iMerit

iMerit labels and evaluates data for AI teams using domain experts it recruits and manages, paired with its own annotation platform, Ango Hub.

The workforce is the pitch. Rather than routing tasks to an anonymous crowd, iMerit staffs projects through a program it calls Scholars: people with real credentials in the field being labeled, from board-certified radiologists to certified medical coders. Review happens inside the platform, and the reviewers are usually specialists too.

Ango Hub handles the formats these projects actually deal with:

• Images, including multi-page TIFF
• Video up to 4K
• LiDAR and 3D point clouds for sensor fusion
• DICOM studies, including multi-frame and 3D
• Text for entity tagging and classification
• Native PDFs, with table labeling
• Audio

The tooling tries to take the mechanical work off the annotator. AutoDetect pre-labels objects in a frame and OCR pulls text off images. A magnetic lasso snaps polygons to object edges, so nobody is clicking their way around a boundary by hand. You can also import labels from an earlier job or a model and have the team correct them instead of starting cold. On the QA side a task can go to several reviewers, annotations get benchmarked against known answers, and an annotator who hits an ambiguous case can raise it with a reviewer in the platform rather than waiting on email.

The company started in 2012 and built out practices around specific domains:

• Autonomous mobility teams use it for HD mapping, LiDAR, and 3D sensor fusion
• Healthcare AI teams use it for medical imaging, digital pathology, and surgical video
• Robotics teams use it for video collection and manipulation data
• Agriculture teams use it for weeding and precision-spraying models
• LLM teams use it for RLHF, red teaming, chain-of-thought data, and model evaluation

Medical work gets its own tooling. The DICOM viewer shows up to 24 images at once so a reader has the surrounding context instead of judging one slice in isolation, and the workflows are built with HIPAA and FDA submission requirements in mind.

Compliance covers what regulated buyers ask about: SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and TISAX.

Worth knowing before you talk to them: EXL, the analytics and business-services company, completed its acquisition of iMerit in August 2026. iMerit continues under its own name inside EXL, with founder Radha Basu running it there.

Best for teams whose labels need real subject-matter judgment, especially in medical imaging, autonomous mobility, and generative-AI evaluation, and who want the vendor to staff and run the program. Not the right fit for a team that needs cheap labeling on straightforward data, or one that wants to buy annotation software on its own and run it with in-house people.
